Reminiscent of Rain
Professor Brian Ambroziak // Arch 272
Spring 2022
This auxiliary studio blurs the boundaries between interior and exterior landscapes. The site is located on the greenway and within the Tennessee River under Alcoa Highway, 1100 feet long and 15 feet wide. Serving as an exclave for the school of architecture, the studio spaces shape everyday life into rituals committed to design, creating a need to be present in the moment. Cisterns flood as the temporal dance of the water spider distorts past travelers' memory of the site. The inevitable passage of time will patina the stereotomic wells as the act of adapting to the environment is the essence of this built form. The result of this architecture is a screenplay where images and words complement one another. Memories are curated for an ethereal site and an archive for generations.
